D365FO security setup: configuration or code?
On his blog, Alex Meyer wrote that when working on security in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, a common question he gets is whether security changes should be made through the security configuration page in D365 F&O or by using Application Explorer/code.
Meyer stated that although he’s previously explained these methods, such as setting up security through the user interface versus the application object tree, you have to determine which one is the best fit for your organization.
In his blog post, Meyer broke down the pros and cons of each option, i.e., security configuration and Application Explorer/code, to help you decide. He also answered some questions to give you more information, including:
- Is it better to make your security changes via configuration or via code?
- Can I create security in security configuration and move it to the Application Explorer/code?
- Can I use a combination of security configuration and the Application Explorer/code to develop and maintain my security?
Finally, Meyer wrote about some tools that can help you with security.
The F&O twist on process mining: Order to cash example
Writing on his Dynamicspedia blog, André Arnaud De Calavon stated that this year, he gave presentations on process mining and how to use data from D365 F&O with it. He noted that all his presentations ended with an example of order to cash where data is retrieved and synchronized from D365 F&O.
