Consignment vendor inventory in Dynamics 365 for Finance & Operations
Writing on the Encore Business Solutions blog Gale Dallyn stated that consignment inventory in Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations allows businesses to manage inventory physically located in their facilities but owned by vendors.
Dallyn noted that this feature is valuable for various situations, such as consumption, redistribution, manufacturing, and project-based operations; however, it may not always align with every business process.
In his blog post, Dallyn wrote topics including:
- Benefits of consignment inventory.
- How to use consignment vendor inventory in D365 F&O.
- Use cases for vendor consignment.
- Consumption.
Dallyn pointed out that if you’re consigning products, vendor consignment may not be ideal if there’s a risk of ending up with obsolete or expired inventory due to slow movement.
He stated that if you run a lean operation and prefer to stock only what’s needed at the moment, vendor consignment wouldn’t be the best fit for your business model.
How to bypass table security in X++ coding
On his Dynamicspedia blog, André Arnaud De Calavon stated that sometimes you need to read or write data in D365 F&O without applying user security restrictions, especially if a user lacks access to certain tables, such as parameters or configurations.
