Upcoming Deprecated Features: Dynamics 365 and Power Platform – CRM Software Blog

Dynamics 365 and Power Platform 2023 Release Wave 2 is here, and it brings new innovations that provide you with significant capabilities to transform your business. The release contains hundreds of new features across the entire suite of applications, as well as deprecated features.

Microsoft will start rolling out these new features, starting October 1st, 2023. Deployment is based on region, and is detailed here.

Why does Microsoft Deprecate Features?

I’ve been working with the platform ever since its inception, back when it was simply called Microsoft CRM. I’ve been fortunate to experience the evolution of this product from a simple onPremise CRM application to a fully-customizable dynamic cloud application suite. Microsoft consistently deprecates features because they are always looking to introduce a better way to handle a task.

For example, Microsoft deprecated their classic workflow engine in favor of Power Automate Flow. Seasoned professionals were not excited to see the end of their beloved automation platform, and publicly questioned the decision. But the reality is that Microsoft introduced a new automation tool that made it easy to automate tasks across multiple applications, instead of limiting users to automate only Dynamics data. Power Automate also replaced the automation tool across all of Microsoft’s platforms, giving us a single tool to rule them all ????

What are the Latest Deprecated Features?

There’s a lot, but I’ll call out some of the ones that directly impact our current customers. You can see the full list of deprecated Dynamics 365 features here and the deprecated Power Platform features here.
